At the Waste2BioComp project, we are proud to work with a network of dedicated professionals helping to drive circular innovation in materials, manufacturing, and beyond. We’re excited to introduce you to one of our ambassadors, Paulo Gonçalves, Marketing Communications Manager at APICCAPS.
Paulo is a passionate advocate for innovation and sustainability in the fashion and footwear sectors. He brings a strong narrative-driven approach to the W2BC community by highlighting the power of communication in driving cultural change, industry transformation, and global awareness around circular practices.
We asked Paulo about the importance of EU-funded projects like W2BC and here’s what he had to say:
Every year, 22 billion pairs of shoes are produced around the world. Of these, 88% are produced in ASIA.
We don’t think this is sensible or sustainable.
It is possible to produce shoes in Europe, with avant-garde design, at fair prices, respecting international conventions, prioritising new sustainable solutions and valuing the know-how accumulated over generations.
Portugal has one of the most consolidated fashion ecosystems in Europe, which we must strengthen with new initiatives and new projects in order to achieve a prominent place on the international competitive scene.
We’re thrilled to have Paulo as part of the W2BC ambassador team. His work and insights embody the spirit of innovation and collaboration that drives our mission forward.
Stay tuned as we continue to spotlight more ambassadors who are shaping the future of circularity!
