We’re excited to introduce you to one of our ambassadors, José Alexandre Oliveira, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Riopele.
José brings decades of leadership and vision to the forefront of sustainable textile innovation. As Chairman of the Board at Riopele, one of Portugal’s leading textile companies, he contributes to the W2BC community with a strong commitment to responsible industry practices, circular design, and long-term value creation through innovation and investment in people.

- How does W2BC’s focus on sustainable innovation align with the future of the textile industry?
Nowadays, everything is changing. With fewer resources available, sustainability is not a choice, but a must. W2BC’s bio-based alternatives, help to reduce the environmental impact of our products.
- Why is it important for stakeholders (e.g., policymakers, businesses, consumers) to support initiatives like W2BC?
Businesses need to invest in new technologies to innovate. Policymakers are important in creating regulations and incentives, encouraging the use of sustainable solutions.
- Given Riopele’s long-standing expertise in fabric innovation and sustainable practices, what strategies do you believe are essential for balancing high-quality production with eco-friendly solutions in today’s fashion market?
At Riopele, we believe that high-quality production requires continuous innovation, strategic partnerships, and a focus on circularity.
